Childcare Programs

Four young kids having fun and growing up. Childhood, learning, exploration familyKenwood Park Children’s Center (KPCC) offers an exciting and stimulating program for infants through four-year-olds.  KPCC recognizes that every child has unique dual patterns of growth and development and individual preferences of activities.

Infants and Toddlers

KPCC’s program for infants and toddlers helps develop each child’s verbal and fine and gross motor skills.  Our teachers use various objects such as mirrors, mats, soft blocks, books and riding toys in their classrooms to achieve these goals.  As the child grows and achieves developmental milestones, the classroom environment will change to meet the child’s needs. (For MCPS Employees at our Gaithersburg, Highland  and Stedwick Centers).

Two through Four-Year-Olds

Our thematically based curriculum is designed for the preschool aged child to have fun while learning.  Our staff works on life skills, such as self-confidence, problem solving and social interaction.  Each child will have a variety of choices during their day, such as dramatic play, block building, art and cooking projects, toys, puzzles, exploring sand and water, music and books.  All of these activities foster physical, cognitive, social and emotional growth. (At our Whittier Woods Center)

Communication with the parents is a very important part of KPCC’s program and is reinforced by sending home daily reports, monthly newsletters and calendars.  Kenwood Park’s programs vary from 2 days to 5 days per week; to help meet the parent’s working schedules.

Before Care

The Before Care Program offers flexibility for students by allowing them to participate in games, manipulatives, or even to do homework.  Our programs begin at 7am with breakfast being served from 7:30am – 8:15am.

After Care

Our thematically based curriculum is designed to have fun while learning.  Each child will have a variety of choices during their time with us such as art projects, games, homework time, outside play, and manipulatives. All of these activities foster physical, cognitive, social and emotional growth.  We provide a snack each afternoon.  As well, homework time is available.  Parents can decide whether they want their child to do some or all homework during their time with us.
